A Love-Hate Relationship...America & The Middle East

In the past, countless western politicians have attempted to find themselves on good rapoor with the Middle East. As the vast area serves to be an economic powerhouse with fascinating annual growth, many have 'wanted in' for a long time.

Though most western countries consider themselves "allies" with their more or less Middle Eastern counterparts, tightening bonds over the years has clearly been a trial and error process.

Earning Middle Eastern trust is not only a difficult thing to accomplish, but one to maintain as well. Perceptions amongst both occidental and middle- easterners are not particularly in favour of one another, and the ideologies of the people are passed down through generations. In effect, the only suffice way to both create and develop relations is through compliance and tolerance...Two difficult things to embody on a national level. Current American foreign policy doesn't much help; one could say it is selfish and contradictory to international law.

As an Arab, I find my people generally show hostility towards America, and when questionned, it relates to "their big noses", and specific events of the past. I thus firmly believe that such an influencial nation like America needs to understand the power of its actions. America is by far one of the most strategic empires ever established, and needs to review its foreign policy in order to flatter its critics. -Habeas Moubarak
